Head Colds and Other News

For the past week I've had a head cold accompanied by stuffy nose, cough and sore throat. It wouldn't be all that bad if I weren't already sick and didn't have a quick gag reflex. So when I wake up in the morning it takes everything I have not to sniff or swallow because if I do I will lose it right then by the side of my bed. So, I make a made dash to the bathroom to snort, sniff, blow and spit, gagging all the while until I'm cleared out. Perhaps a little TMI!? I agree, sorry.

Accompanying my cold is a banging headache and sore throat. I try not to take pain relief because it generally upsets my stomache but hey, I'm already there so I took some and it helped a little. I'm still sleeping most of my days away because its better to be asleep than nauseauted.

I seem to be having a slight reprieve these past few days. Last night I took dinner to a neighbor whose family had been in a car accident, thankfully they are all okay although the mom tore up a big part of her scalp but she's doing well. Anyways, I planned all day to make the dinner and I was excited to be serving someone because it's been a while. I was surprised that I could even trim and cut up the slimy chicken without gagging. And my family benefited from the service too because they had a nice homemade meal of Orange Chicken. My first home cooked meal since Christmas. Man, the family was happppppy.

After dinner we hosted the students from the ward for their Family Home Evening. We do this once a month and their are 3 groups that rotate. Marc always has a great lesson planned and a fun activity. He's great at getting the house in shape for their arrival too. So, last night the kids taught us about Nephi building a ship and then the students made their own ships from popsicle sticks and other craft items. After that we played soccer down at the school and had creamies.
These students are some of the best kids you will ever meet. Our children look up to them so much, as do I given that they are constantly taking care of ME instead of the other way around.
For the past few weeks we've had visits from different students who bring us cookies and brownies and this Sunday they are cooking our Sunday meal. I LOVE you guys so much!

As for the family, Jake is in soccer and LOVING it. We only put one child in soccer not sure how I'd be feeling. He plays every Saturday and we'd love you to come and watch anytime. Kenadee has started a 6 week course, twice a week, with a theater group. We have an awesome theatre place in town called Mystique. She is SO excited to go and she is doing well. She has always said she has stage fright so she feels this will help her overcome it. Brinlee is a free agent right now. We ended gymnastics a month early so she is just enjoying her free time until summer activities begin. And thats us in a nutshell!!

Wow Tori, I'm sorry you're still so sick. Steve struggles with the gag reflex too, I really hate when he gets congested! Wish you were closer, I'd love to bring you meals! Hang in there, it will be totally worth it!!!

I feel your pain. The sniffles are the worst..esp. when you're pregnant! Caty having her baby is making me so excited to meet your little girl in a few months. You'll have to save the lesson plans for the Nephi ship - I'm always looking for ideas like that for Sundays that we don't go to church.
