Organized Chaos

I've always thought that I don't want to be one of those crazy moms who lives in the car driving her kids from one thing to the next, however, its always been very important to us that our children get to do at least one activity that they enjoy so they can develop their skill and be really great at something. Neither Marc nor I got the chance to do that so as adults we find our selves good at a lot of things but not great at one thing. I can play the piano but not in front of people, I can sing but I'll never make it on American Idol, I can dance but only on my Playstation dance mat, I can sew but only straight lines, I can....well you get the point!

So here is how my Tuesday went.

3.15pm I have scouts with my scout troop. It took me a minute to realise Jake was no longer in my troop and I wasn't sure when his troop met.
4.00pm Jake's troop shows up at the church but I'm not home to tell him or take him.
4.15pm Scout's ends, I run the scouts home, Feed baby so we are 15 minutes late to gymnastics. 4.35pm Take Kenadee to gymnastics.
5.30 pm Leave gymnastics to go home and take Jake to soccer for 6pm
6.15pm Leave soccer to pick Kenadee back up
7.00pm Pick up Jake from soccer and go home to eat dinner

Thank goodness I have an awesome neighbor who lets my kids stay and play while I have to do other things. And In between all the driving I have a nursing baby who prefers to not be in the car seat the whole afternoon. Marc is also visiting all the new students in their student ward every night this week and next from right after work until 10.00pm. If he's not doing that then he's out of town. And then I get to do this again on Thursday except we have piano from 3-4p and Brinlee has her soccer practice at 6.15pm. I'm glad that we coordinated this on only two days a week and I really do get a lot of satisfaction watching my children excell in their chosen activity. I'm really not complaining because I know its all worth it!!

AMEN to being worth it. Your an awesome mom. Tell your self that several times a day so that you can keep doing what you do.

Yep, my kids were all telling me how completely overwhelmed they are feeling between sports (encouraged but optional), piano (not an option), and school (not an option). It's sad that they can't just be kids, BUT...I also feel like they need to have something they're good at. It adds so much self confidence, and they totally need that. So until I figure it out, from one crazy mom to another...hang in there! Some day we'll sit in our rockers bored and growing older by the minute, and wish we had some kids to run around! eeek, sorry for such a long comment! kelli
