New Baby = No Sleep!! Okay, so that's an obvious statement but I was starting to think that I was creating a monster given the fact that I had slept with Bailee in my arms the past 2 months. We certainly gave it a shot as we had tried to put her in the bassinet beside my bed on a few occasions. She would sleep for maybe 20 minutes tops! Then my sister gave me a co-sleeper that fits nicely in between us in the king size bed. She would sleep from 12-3am in the co-sleeper but after that she was done and ended up back in my arms.
Marc commented how funny it was that we were acting like first time parents again. Seven years ago we booted our kids out of our room and into their own in the first few months, no questions asked! But this little baby is getting the royal treatment. I know its my fault because as much as I want to sleep I also want to hold her as much as I can. She's so snuggly.
At the store the other day I came across a product called a 'kiddopotamus swaddler'. It is my new best friend. Baby's feet go into a little pouch and then you wrap one side around baby tightly and the next side wraps around and attaches to velcro. It's sort of like a mini straight jacket but seriously, she LOVES it. She's our little burritto. So, the first time I used it she slept...well, like a baby! During the night she slept in longer stretches only waking at 3am and 6am.
On Friday we were in Utah. We headed home around 10pm after I fed Bailee. We got home after midnight and laid her down in her burritto blanket, in the bassinet and went to bed. I was expecting her to wake around 1 or 2am and I was pleasantly surprised when she woke up at 5.30am. WOW!! She had a 7 hour stretch and I had only enjoyed about 4 hours of it, but thats okay even 4 hours was the most consecutive sleep I've had in 3 months. After I fed her she went straight back in her bassinet and slept till 8am when we woke up to her 'cooing'. She did the same thing last night. Maybe we're not doing such a bad job after all. (jake missed this photo op!)

Yae for you! She has such a sweet smile! I think that the older we get, we realize that time goes way too quickly, and we want to hold them and cuddle them every second that we can. Besides, did you hear President Monsons talk today??? I don't want to miss out on any opportunity to soak this experience up! And I am totally thankful to have a great friend to experience it all with! kelli
Thats exciting! Hope she continues to sleep good for you! I love this picture of your girls they are all so beautiful!!....I still can't believe how grown up Kennadee is.
Wow, I wish I could have had something like that swaddler back in the day. I was sleep deprived for many years. I'll have to remember to tell my girls about it. Oh, and I LOVE the photo of your three beauties!
I wish they would have had that when Ben was a baby. He to slept best when being held.
Awesome!! I'm definetly going to have to get one (or borrow one..wink wink) with my next baby!! Some babies just love that super squished up feeling. lol!! And you can NEVER spoil a baby too much. I really think that bonding and comfort helps the babies as they grow, to feel secure. And they are only a baby once!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE remind me about that thing if I ever have another baby. That is so wonderful! Great picture of the girls!
