"If ye are prepared, ye shall not fear" - I love this scripture. And although its taken me this long to get prepared I think we are on our way to being a bit more fearless.
This weekend we stocked up our food storage room with food that will last us for 6 months. Its ironic that one of the main reasons we bought this house was for the food storage room that we didn't have in our last home. It has taken us the past 2 years to get it all sorted, buy the shelves we needed and stock it with food. And, we are so proud of it.
Marc was the driving force behind it after he purchased a food storage 'shelfreliance' (can organizer) online. It only took about 6 months for us to actually get it put together but once it was up there was no stopping him.
He kept trying to go shopping every weekend but seeing as he isn't the main cook in the house he wasn't sure exactly what we needed. I finally made a list and we headed to Winco and Costco (man, I LOVE costco). We are now stocked up for at least 6 months and we would have done one years worth of food, but the thought of moving all that was too much.
We had a house showing today and I'm sure it would be just our luck that we sell and have to move the 6 months worth we just bought. However, we won't complain because we're just happy that we are one step closer to being prepared.
In other news, we have some interest on the house but if it works out is another thing. There is a family in Heber, UT who saw our house online and want to buy it, however, they haven't sold there home. They are in a hurry to get to Pocatello and wanted to lease the house until they sold theirs. That's not something we are interested in given all of the things that could go wrong, however, if they can sell their home quickly then that would be exciting for us.
We've had a showing every week since we listed and 3 showings last week. Keep praying for us. We still have hope that we can make it back to UT before the holidays, although, its a very slim bit of hope at this point. But while we wait, we'll enjoy our time here and live in the moment.

Wow! Way to go! Buying 6 months worth of food is probably the perfect way to get your house sold.
Good luck with everything. It sounds like you have a great perspective and good attitude. I hope it all comes together for you!
What's your hurry to leave us??? Just kidding. I get it!
It's such a huge peace of mind to get some of the food storage, hu? My storage room is a huge mess, but I guess I'm grateful for all of the food that is stacked in piles all around the treadmill!
Believe me, WE'RE PRAYING FOR YOU. Come on Heber people...sell that house! Looking forward to Thanksgiving - I'd love to help with the crafts and hopefully John will help me out with Carter so that I can do it. See ya in a few days!
that is so good! We have been trying for about 4 years and we are no where close to that!
