Utah!!

This past week was the 3rd consecutive week that Marc had been out of town but this time I was able to tag along because he was headed to Utah. We worked out a deal with his co-worker, Shane and his wife Laura, for a kid swap because Shane travels with Marc. So, this way Laura can go with Shane on a trip and I can go with Marc now and then. Utah worked out perfectly because all our family lives there. We ended up staying in a hotel in Sandy, just one exit from my sister, Jacqueline. It was so nice to have a place to go and hang out, especially in the evenings AND to have such great homemade meals.

I think the main theme of this trip was 'shopping', however, I spent one day with my sister having a girls day. I treated Jacqui to her first pedicure which was very entertaining. She hated having her toenails cut by someone else and then when the lady scrubbed her feet she couldn't stop laughing. She laughed out loud and kept pulling her foot away. The lady said (in her asian accent), you need lot of scrub! It was pretty funny.

We ate the best sticky finger chicken salad at Wingers and as we were getting in the car the manager came running after us and said, Ladies....did you forget to pay! duh...... yeah! So I went back in to pay. We were so excited to get to IKEA that we dashed out without paying. This was my first trip to IKEA and now I can see why my s.i.l. Molly raves about it. I didn't have kids with me but I wished I had so I could have thrown them in the awesome playland. WOW! That is one uber cool place. Talk about variety. (not the most flattering self portrait)

The second day we met my mum in Salt Lake for another girls day. We ate at a fantastic Lebanese restaurant. My mums friend is the head chef and she cooks some amazing food. We also browsed the super expensive boutiques in the area. Later that night we watched my nephew who is one of the lead actors in 'The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe'. He plays Edmund and he is fantastic. Having an authentic English accent really helps too.

The kids had Thursday and Friday off school so Kenadee drove down with Laura Wednesday night and was able to see Daniel in his play. The next day we swam at the hotel and then met Jacqui for one last shopping trip to Plato's Closet. This is a really cool consignment shop that sells tons of name brand clothes. There were racks of American Eagle and Hollister etc. I'm not much of a name brand person but I do enjoy a good, cheap find with a brand on it. So, Kenadee got a few shirts for $6, $7 each. She got the cute hat and glasses as a treat because she mowed the lawn all summer and we never paid her. She looks so cute! My baby is definately growing up.

I had to throw this picture in. It was just too cute to pass up.

I can't believe how grown up Kenadee is getting you've almost got a full fledged teen on your hands.
It's great that you finally are able to spend so much time with your family. I can't imagine being in different countries from my family for so many years.
