Bye Bye Truck

Before we had the Nissan Armada, our family 4 wheel drive vehicle that fits everyone and can take us to all those rugged destinations such as skiing, fishing, camping etc, we had the Dodge Dakota. This was Marc's truck (only navy blue) that was used for the purpose of taking us places we couldn't get to in the van. I remember when Marc purchased the truck 3 years ago. We drove all the way out to Tooele on the advice from ( I think Marc's bro, Steve) that this particular dealership was one of the best at giving deals. But Marc didn't need that in his corner, this boy had done his research on leasing. That's what I LOVE about him. When he has something to do, he learns about it and gets what he wants. I remember we were there ALL day doing the haggling but Marc was not going to pay more than he wanted.

Well, 3 years have passed and it's time to turn the Dakota back in. I think for a guy giving up his truck this was like losing a part of himself. They told us they would come sometime in the week and just pick it up. Surprise, Friday night they came. So basically, because we didn't think ahead we only had one car this weekend. It's a good thing I don't really go anywhere these days, although we do have church across town which will result in 3-4 trips; Marc's early meetings, picking up me and the kids, taking me home after sacrament unless I can last all 3 hours, taking the kids home after church and then going back to do tithing. So thats about 4 trips tomorrow. We'll see how it goes. And of course it's my week for carpool and school doesn't start till 8.20am so Marc obviously can't make it in by his standard 8am.

So, we're considering a motorcycle, or just one car for a while. I honestly don't go anywhere right now so I'm sure we could do it. But we are also looking for something he can drive that gets good gas mileage so we could take more quick trips to Utah. A boy and his truck.....ahhh it's a sad day.

We had our landcruiser in the body shop for a week and I really found I didn't need it, but I seriously missed being able to just head out whenever I wanted. We saved a lot on gas!! Americans are spoiled with multiple cars! :)
I bet you'll want to take your family car when you visit UT, so you ought to just get Marc a little run around car. :) Or spoil him with a nice hybrid.
