So, who decided that Spring Break should be held in one of the coldest weeks in March? I've always wondered why Spring Break is held so early in the year when snow is still falling and winds are still howling. It's not as though you can throw your kids outside to play so after a few days the boredom and bickering begin to set in. So for that very reason we make an annual trip to St. George where we can really enjoy our Spring Break. For the past few years we have stayed in a great condo at The Sports Village where there are amentities galore; swimming pool, hot tub, tennis and basketball courts, a playground, mini golf and game room. And we are always sure to get the condo that overlooks the pool and playground. Marc's brother John, his wife Molly and their 3 cute kiddies also came along which was a lot of fun. It's great to have family to spend time with and share in the memories. Plus, the kids don't seem to get tired of each other as quickly when there are cousins around. Last year we spent it with my sister's family, Jacqui, and their 6 children who had just moved from England. We LOVE our family!
I was surprised after a few days that my lingering sickness seemed to wain and I was able to enjoy most of the vacation. I'm sure it was the good company and beautiful sunshine. After a 3 hour drive to Salt Lake we felt as though this trip would never end. But once arrived it was worth the drive. At the pool, Jake made a new friend, which is unlike him. Kenadee tends to be the social one so I was excited he had another boy to hang with at the pool and then I overheard the kid saying to Jake, "So, whats your sisters name again?" and Jake answered. Then a few minutes later, "Did you say she was in 4th grade?" Jake nodded. He looked put out by the questions but it then dawned on me that this very nice looking boy hanging with Jake had also noticed Kenadee. Well, nothing ever transpired, Kenadee wouldn't even give him the time of day and when we talked about it she said, Mom! He's in 6th grade (insert inflections as desired). It was kind of cute though!
Marc and John took the kids to see Horton Hears A Who! which they told me was excellent so now I'm dying to see it. We also went swimming again and the weather was 'delicious!' I even got a nice bit of sun and a little burn on my neck where I splotched the sunblock:) We also enjoyed ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery (my one indulgence, if you don't count all the twizzlers and hot tamales I inhaled on the trip, those are the two things that often settle my stomach).
On Sunday it was a little cooler and overcast so we all went up to visit Snow Canyon. The kids LOVED playing on the sand dunes and for that matter so did the big kids; John and Marc. I ended up sitting in the car not feeling too good but enjoying the beautiful scenery. They then went on a 1 mile hike over the red rocks where they went to 'Mucka Mucka Island' and saw all sorts of Mucka Mucka's. I think the word originated from 5 yr old Clara and then Jake and Kenadee made up an entire civilization and accompanying story. I do like their creative minds!! We left the park just in time as the rain began to fall. We were sad to leave Monday Morning. We already miss everyone and of course the warm weather!
