Who shot the President?

This week is my turn for the carpool and the funniest thing happened when I picked up the children from school. As he got in the car Jake said to me, Connor said President Hinckley was shot! Of course, I disagreed and said, No, he wasn't shot, he died from old age. Connor adamantly replied, No they told us in school he was shot, to which Brinlee (who is in Connor's class) added, President Hinckley was shot, our teacher told us. I thought, This can't be right, why would sweet Mrs. Winn tell them the Prophet was shot. It all made sense when Brinlee innocently added, He was shot in the head at a theater while he was watching a play. Lincoln, Hinckley!? I suppose this whole President thing can be a little confusing to a first grader.
